Correlation Between Platelet and Hemoglobin Levels and Pathological Characteristics and Prognosis of Early-Stage Squamous Cervical Carcinoma.

چکیده
BACKGROUND We sought to determine the effect of pre-operative hemoglobin (HGB) and platelet (PLT) levels on the clinical features and prognosis of early-stage squamous cervical carcinoma (SCC). MATERIAL AND METHODS We performed a retrospective analysis of 380 patients with SCC who underwent hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy. SCC was confirmed post-operatively by pathological diagnosis. The relations between HGB and PLT levels and clinicopathological characteristics were observed, and a Cox regression analysis was performed to determine their influence on survival. RESULTS There were significant differences in tumor staging, tumor diameter, and lymphatic metastasis between the 69 patients with PLT levels >300×109/L and the 311 patients with PLT levels ≤300×109/L (P<0.05). Tumor staging, extent of differentiation, and lymphatic metastasis were significantly different between 134 patients with HGB levels <120 g/L and 246 patients with HGB levels ≥120 g/L (P<0.05). The overall survival rate in the group with PLT levels >300×109/L was lower than that in the group with PLT levels ≤300 × 109/L, but this difference was not significant. The overall survival rate in the group with HGB levels <120 g/L was significantly lower than that in the group with HGB levels ≥120 g/L (P<0.05), and the overall survival rate in the group with PLT levels >300×109/L and HGB levels <120 g/L was significantly lower than that in the group with PLT levels ≤300×109/L and HGB levels ≤120 g/L (P<0.05). According to Cox regression analysis, a pre-operative HGB level <120 g/L was considered a separate risk factor affecting prognosis. CONCLUSIONS Close attention must be paid to pre-operative PLT and HGB levels, and anemia should be remedied to facilitate the treatment of cervical carcinoma.

متن کاملE-cadherin Promoter Methylation Comparison and Correlation with the Pathological Features of the Squamous Cell Carcinoma of Esophagus in the High Risk Region
E-cadherin is among tumor suppressor genes which mostly subjects to the down-regulation in squamous cell carcinoma of esophagus (SCCE). The gene is tightly associated with the tumor invasion and metastasis in multiple human cancers, especially SCCE. CpG islands’ methylation in the promoter region of E-cadherin is among the mechanisms that have been suggested for the E-cadherin silencing, howeve...

Background: Cervical carcinoma is the second most common cancer among women worldwide. In the Middle East it is the most common malignancy in women. Prognostic utility of squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCCAg) for cervical cancer, and its correlation with pathologic grading has been demonstrated in several studies. However, no such study has been performed in Iran. The aim of the present study...

Introduction:Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) is an invasive neoplasm with a high prevalence. Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMP) has been thought to play an important role in both the invasion and metastasis of tumors. The aim of this study was to explore the significance of MMPs expression in clinical outcome of these patients. Materials:The most recognized data Bases such as PubMed, Google sc...
